"Ghost of Tsushima" is a game with a very unique experience. Although it was developed by European and American teams, it has a very thorough understanding of Japanese culture, samurai spirit, and oriental aesthetics. Not only is there no sense of disobedience when immersed in it, but it often makes me intoxicated.
Oriental beauty
The most attractive thing about "Ghost of Tsushima" is that it expresses the Eastern aesthetics to the fullest, which includes not only the scenery of mountains and rivers, but also the local customs.
From green hills, dense forests, rice fields, to swamps, towns, and snowfields, the landscape of Tsushima Island not only shows a wealth of diversity, but also has great ingenuity in the details-the breeze is blowing, I can even observe each The rhythm of clusters of rice ears, every petal, and even every trace of blood. In such a wonderful world, you can write haiku, lick the fox, and soak in hot springs, and enjoy the joy of mountains and rivers. The game UI will also be very interesting and automatically hide most of the time, and use wind, birds, and foxes to help you find your way-to maximize the beauty of nature. Although the picture quality is visible to the naked eye compared to several previously announced promotional videos, the overall look and feel is still firmly in the first echelon of the PS4 generation.
Storm on Tsushima Island
This work is based on the story of Kublai Khan’s invasion of Japan in the 13th century, but both the characters and the events in the game are completely empty. In real history, Kublai Khan invaded Japan twice, and Tsushima was completely defeated in a short period of time. The main battlefield was actually more in Kyushu, Japan-but in the game, both sides were on Tsushima. The island fought back and forth. In this sense, "Ghost of Tsushima" may not bring you a vivid and magical "historical journey" like "Assassin's Creed". However, considering the need for gameplay, the almost entirely empty historical adaptation is still reasonable.
The protagonist Jin Sakai was originally a warrior who valued glory, but in the face of the Mongols’ crushing military strength, he deeply felt that the traditional dogma of Bushido and the rigid tactics of war could not save his hometown, so he finally had to take some measures. The cruel tricks and tricks despised by the samurai class-"conservative" and "flexible" are the core value conflicts of this game. However, the game does not simply choose sides between the two, but arranges an appropriate plot to show the advantages and limitations of the two values at the same time. In terms of the philosophical issues discussed, this work is actually quite speculative.
Samurai Way
The combat system of "Ghost of Tsushima" is roughly divided into two routines: head-on duel and stealth assassination. They also vividly show the fighting style of samurai or ninja.
"Ghost of Tsushima" does not have an endless brush system, nor a strict numerical system. The way to strengthen weapons and equipment is to continuously collect resources and materials in the open world. The way for a character to become stronger is to unlock new moves and new props by consuming skill points, and the way to obtain skill points is to continuously complete various main and side tasks to accumulate reputation. Although in essence, the growth system of this game is still linked to the progress of the process and the state of exploration, the presentation method is simpler. Every time the character becomes stronger, it can also be very intuitively reflected on the level of gameplay.

The design and development world of "Ghost of Tsushima" is basically the same as "Assassin's Creed" and "Far Cry". In addition to the main missions, there are a large number of shrines, shrines, hot springs, resource points, side missions, random events, liberable villages, enemy military bases... The "Legend Mission" in the side missions is a way to obtain key skills or important equipment, and its process also represents the highest level of level design in this game. As the name suggests, these legendary missions will begin with a mysterious legendary story, exploring, solving puzzles, investigating, reasoning, fighting, dueling, narrating... the experience of this process is not only diverse, but also thousands of times, and it satisfies my Curiosity, desire to explore and sense of accomplishment. Among the open world games, the level of mission and level design of "Ghost of Tsushima" is definitely in the upper reaches.
"Ghost of Tsushima" is a game that is very in line with the oriental aesthetics. The beautiful scenery, samurai showdown, and high-quality mission design all intoxicated me. It's just that its open world concept is somewhat formulaic, and the process of exploration is difficult to keep me interested in it for a long time.
